The Quest to Find my Mantra

So as I was on iTunes a couple days ago, I happened to find Christina Perri's brand new album, "lovestrong." The songs are great - not to go all commercial on you, but each track is really a work of art. Anyways, as I saw on the cover of her new single "Arms", I noticed one of the many lavish tattoos on her arms. It says "Too thine own self be true." See for yourself:

It struck a curiousity in me, and I researched. In an interview, Christina claimed that that is her personal mantra - it's like a saying the she lives her life by. To others, it's just another Shakespearean quote. To her, it is important enough to get inked onto her limb. This got me thinking - I should have one, too! I looked up some quotes by people that really inspire me, and thought I'd share my top favorites considering each one made me smile, if even a little bit. Here we go, y'all:

"Time you enjoy wasting, was not wasted."
-John Lennon

"Count your age by friends, not years. Count your life by smiles, not tears."
-John Lennon

"There's nowhere you can be that isn't where you're meant to be..."
-John Lennon

"None but ourselves can free our minds."
-Bob Marley

"Don't gain the world and lose your soul, wisdom is better than silver or gold."
-Bob Marley

"They always say time changes things, but you actually have to change them yourself."
-Andy Warhol

"It does not matter how slowly you go so long as you do not stop."
-Andy Warhol

"They can't scare me, if I scare them first."
-Lady GaGa

"In the end, it's not going to matter how many breaths you
took, but how many moments took your breath away"
-Shing Xiong

Sitting here, reading all of these quotes, I wonder if you're thinking the same thing I am - these quotes are cute and all, but why am I wasting time reading these when I should be going out and living life now? I mean, right now, where ever the hell you are - in a chair, on a bed, on the floor, on an iPhone...you're living life. All the blokes who made those quotes are long gone, but they each lived extravagant lives; that's how they came up with all those clever little lines. So, to all of you readers (just kidding...who the hell reads this blog anyways?) out there, I have one mantra for you: LIVE YOUR F***ING LIFE. JUST LIVE IT AND LOVE IT.

And I'll work on making my nothing into something (;

Will & Kate Plus 8

I've never been a fan of the Royal Family business, but all this hype about the Royal Wedding ultimately got me interested. So I began a little research (which was pretty much just reading People magazine articles and Lifetime movies about the couple) and developed a knowledge of their whole story. All I can say is, Wills and Waity Katey are extremely cute together, and getting up at five in the morning to experience this moment in history was deeply gratifying. I felt like I was watching a sappy romance princess movie, and it warmed my heart to see the love and happiness in the British atmosphere. It was even more magical to know that this fairy-tale was real, and Kate Middleton would continue on living a life that is enviable of practically every female soul in the world.
So, let's get started, shall we? Here are my 8 Favorite Things About The Royal Wedding!
8. The Church
Wesminster Abbey is BREATHTAKING. Though I am not often a churchgoer, if this little shack was around my block, I would amp up my devotion to the big guy upstairs 100%. Just the sight of this gorgeous praying palace makes my eyes pop out like a vintage cartoon's.
7.  The coverage
Droopy-eyed and reluctant, I woke myself up in the darkness of 5 am. When I turned on my television and the bright daylight of London blinded me, I was awe-struck at the beauty of camerawork they had arranged for the proceedings. From the moment Kate hopped into her car on the way to get hitched to the moment the couple smooched on their famous balcony, every scene was captured through high-definition picture and all-too-eager narrators. It was the cherry on top to a lovely day.

6. The dress
What's in a dress? Not that much, I usually say. Who cares about the wedding dress, it's white and that's all that really matters. But of course, my nonconformist beliefs were changed when I saw Kate appear in her exquisite dress designed by Sarah Burton. A perfect combination of modern and traditional attire equipped with a Diana-inspired veil, the bride looked perfectly sweet.

5. The ceremony
An adorable bride and groom (side note: William = stud muffinnnnnnnn! Not to mention he looked so unconditionally happy in their moment of betrothal I suspected a tear lurking down the corner of my eye), A glorious choir, The queen in a cute little sun-inspired yellow dress and hat, heartfelt vows, Elton John...what more could we ask for?
4. Prince Harry
I must confess my newfound crush on the bachelor. Looking ever so handsome, he laughs in the faces of other gingers. Psstt - hey, Harry! Looking for someone? Well, this Incredible Nothing might have a little something for you (; Yeah, that's right. I heard about your crazy partying days.
3. Grace Van Cutsems
It's the little bridesmaid with her hands over her ears in the bottom left of this picture. Apparently she is not fond of the quaint little sound of thousands of crazed Brits screaming at the top of their lungs. She is so cutely pissed off that she makes it to number three on this list!
2. THE HATS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I am so jealous that these girls got the privilege of wearing regally hideous head pieces and actually getting away with it. I can honestly say I thought Beatrice was Lady GaGa. And I was thinking...why the HELL would they sit GaGa right behind Her Majesty?
1. The Kiss
Okay, here's the Cutsems picture agian. But what I didn't mention was the actual subject of the photograph. Here is Will & Kate, captured forever in what is most likely they happiest moment of both of their lives. It is a truly wonderful sight, and I am honored to have witnessed it, even though I'm only a bajillion miles away.
There you have it. My take on today's royal affairs.
HATs off to the future king and queen!!

Living La Vida Stupid.

I've always liked the name January for a girl. Maybe it's because I try to be a hipster and embrace bizarre ways of life, like playing the ukulele and watching HBO documentaries about homeless people. Whatever the reason, I love it, and if I ever end up have a daughter, that could be the name I end up choosing for her. This is one of the many things I think about during the day. I think a lot - being an only child will do that to you.

So, HI WORLD. This is my blog. This is my story. But most likely the world is not reading this blog. Perhaps just a couple people who somehow miraculously found my page by google or some other mysterious means of discovery. I digress! (And I will do that often - my apologies in advance.)

Let me introduce myself. My name is none of your business, I live in a neighborhood in a town in America, and I attend a very smelly public high school. I am obsessed with a band called The Beatles, have you heard of them? Also, when it comes to music, my favorite singers are Jason Mraz and Edith Piaf. Why, you ask, do you need to know that? The answer is, shut up. This is my blog and I can type whatever the hell I want. So HA. My family consists of four people:

1) Mother: She is very paranoid. Very. Paranoid. For example, if I drop my toothbrush in the bathroom and she hears it, she will demand to know if everything is okay as well as race over and check for herself.

2) Father (a.k.a. Dad, Pop, Big John): Though well beyond his youth and well beyond six feet tall, he has the mind of a fourteen-year-old boy. Says phrases like "fo shizzle" and "what's the dealio?" So basically any street lingo from the mouth of Snoop Dogg to Danny Zuko.

3) Madeline The Poodle (a.k.a. my DUMBASS dog): Don't let the cuteness lure you in; she is the devil. She yips her little puppy trap until three in the morning and tries to nibble on your toes whenever you are watching television on the couch.

4) Me (a.k.a. The Incredible Nothing): You should know enough about me by now.

Okay, we are all set here. By the way, mother thinks I might be clinically depressed. That's why I'm headed off to go see a counselor right now (against my will!!) She probably thinks so because right now I am very bored, and my life seems an INCREDIBLE NOTHING. Will I find true happiness? Stay tuned, bitches.
